  3. What to do if the problem remains.

EXPLANATION:

Whenever the printer is powered on, or an open cover is closed, the printer warms up.

If this process takes an abnormally long time, or never seems to end, the problem is likely to be an empty or incorrectly-installed toner cartridge.

SOLUTION:

  1. Wait at least 7 minutes for the printer to finish warming up and/or calibrating.

    1. Allow the printer at least 7 minutes to finish warming up.

    2. Do not:

      • open any covers

      • power the printer off and on again

Doing so will start the warm up process again from the very beginning.

    3. Near the end of the warm up process, the sound of the printer will change. Wait a few minutes more for the printer to complete warming up.

  2. What to do if the printer has now finished warming up.

    1. The printer should display a warning or error message.

    2. Act on the message displayed (where 'x' = K for Black, C for Cyan, M for Magenta, and Y for Yellow):

      • "xxxx Toner low":

        • One or more toner cartridges are low. At least one of the toner cartridges will be very nearly empty, and this is causing the long warm up time.

        • Attempt to print. This may cause the low toner cartridge to become empty, and trigger the toner replacement procedure.

        • Otherwise, remove the indicated toner cartridges one-by-one. Replace any toner cartridges that feel very light. See Changing a toner cartridge before the end of its life for instructions.

      • "Replace Toner x":

  3. What to do if the problem remains.

    1. One or more toner cartridges may be installed incorrectly. Manually remove and reinstall the toner cartridges one-by-one.
      See this article for instructions.

    2. If you are using non-genuine toner cartridges, this may be the cause of the issue. Replace the consumables with new, genuine Epson products.

    3. If there is no change, contact Epson for further advice.
