For a small range of our commercial printer inks, the "ink low" communication in the printer status monitor has changed. This is due to the discontinuation in production of a component currently used within those ink cartridges.

Due to the change in components, ink consumption is now calculated based on the printing of different sized dots, and ink usage must now be estimated rather than accurately tracked. As a result, varying levels of ink could remain in each cartridge. The price of the cartridges has been reduced by 20% to reflect this change.

Customers will still benefit from the same high quality and high reliability of Epson genuine ink, which is not impacted by the change

Before you install the new ink cartridge in your printer, it’s important that you update the firmware to the latest version. If this update is not performed, your printer will display an error message and it will not function. This can be solved by following the instructions on the cartridge packaging and on the leaflet enclosed with your new cartridge. Why is Epson unable to find an alternative solution to replace the missing component?

The component was made by a third party who are unable to continue supply. Epson has been unable to find a compatible equivalent.

Why are newer Epson large format printer inks not affected?

This missing component was only used in certain cartridges. Other cartridges will continue to be offered as usual.

Which cartridges are affected?

This issue relates to C13T804xxx (700ml) & C13T824xxx (350ml) printer ink cartridges. These cartridges are no longer available and have been replaced by C13T55Kxxx (700ml) & C13T54Xxxx (350ml).

Which printers are these used in?

The printers are Epson SureColor SC-P6000/7000/8000 and 9000.
